STEFAN À WENGEN

DRAWINGS
BIOGRAPHY

Stefan à Wengens paintings show as well figurative as objective motifs. The images are subject to a strong contentuality  which relates to cultural codes
and
simultaneously allows ambiguous interpretations. His paintings deal with themes of existential weight that appeals to history of art, but also involves
always
 the present.

Stefan à Wengen, born 1964 in Basel, lives and works in Düsseldorf, where he cofounded three years ago the Project-space SPAM-CONTEMPORARY.

His works has been on display in various Museums like Kunstmuseum Luzern, Kunsthalle Mannheim, im Musée des beaux-arts La Chaux-de-Fonds,
Museum Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, Kunstmuseum Mülheim an der Ruhr, Kunsthaus Glarus, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin or Centre d’Art Contemporain,
Fri-Art in Fribourg.

His paintings and drawings are likewise represented in numerous public and private collections, amongst others Kunstmuseum Basel, Kunstmuseum Luzern,
Schweizerischen Bundeskunstsammlung, Ricola Fondation and others.
